Female armed robber remains at large, police seek public’s help

Police are looking for help from the public to catch the culprits behind two recent armed robberies at local convenience stores.

The first robbery happened on July 22 at 10:48 pm, at the Gas N Go in the Ocean Grove area. A female wearing a mask and brandishing a pistol along with a masked male entered the store and robbed the clerk at gunpoint.

The second robbery happened on August 4 at 3:16 am, at the Circle K at the corner of Alder Street and Rockland Road, and was similar to the earlier robbery — a female wearing a mask and brandishing a gun, along with a masked male accomplice, robbed the on-duty clerk.

There were no injuries reported in either incident.

“At this time police believe they are dealing with the same suspects in both of the robberies,” says a statement from Campbell River RCMP. “Police are asking the public in the areas of the robberies to check for CCTV footage on the dates and times of the robberies and contact the Campbell River RCMP if they find any suspicious footage.”

Police are reminding businesses to remain vigilant with security and safety policies.

“Ensure employees know and follow proper late-night cash handling procedures and make sure that security systems such as alarms and cameras are functioning properly,” they say.

Anyone with information can contact police at 250-286-6221, or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
