One woman is expected to make a full recovery after an early-morning stabbing Sunday in the downtown core.

According to a statement from Campbell River RCMP, police were called to a parking lot in the 1200 block of Cedar Street at approximately 2:30 am for a report of a 30-year-old female who had been stabbed.

“Multiple RCMP members responded to the scene, locating the 30-year-old victim, and ensured that she received the necessary medical assistance from Emergency Health Services,” police said. “She was later transported to hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.”

RCMP members from the Major Crime and Forensics units, along with general duty officers, remained in the area to make a full examination of the scene and to speak with witnesses.

Police believe the victim was known to the attacker, and that there is no danger to the general public.

Police are looking to speak with anyone that may have been in the area at the time of the stabbing, or who may have video footage of the incident; they are asked to please contact RCMP at the non-emergency line, 250-286-6221.
