Tesla EV Supercharger station now open in Campbell River

By Grant Warkentin

Electric vehicle drivers can now charge up quickly at the new and northernmost Supercharger station on Vancouver Island.

The Tesla Supercharger station is now in operation at the Discovery Harbour Shopping Centre downtown.

According to Drive Tesla Canada, the Campbell River Supercharger “addresses one of the most notable gaps in Tesla’s charging network on Vancouver Island. Until recently, drivers heading north of Nanaimo had limited fast-charging options, often relying on third-party networks that could be slower and less reliable.

“That challenge is now largely resolved. With the Campbell River station operational and the nearby Comox Supercharger opening earlier this year, Tesla drivers can now travel much farther up the island with confidence.”

The Discovery Harbour chargers are near the Mid-Island Liquor store and offer speeds of up to 325 kW, capable of adding more than 300 kilometres of range in 30 minutes or less for compatible vehicles.

The Superchargers are compatible with all Teslas and most other electric vehicle models, and are open 24-7.

Tesla owners pay a flat rate of $0.29/kWh for charging, while non-Tesla owners pay a premium of $0.41/kWh.
