Suspected drug trafficker busted at Merville vacation rental

By Grant Warkentin

Campbell River RCMP arrested a Burnaby man earlier this month after a lengthy investigation into illicit drug trafficking on local streets.

On April 16, the Campbell River RCMP Street Crime Unit, along with the Crime Reduction Unit, Major Crime Unit, Police Dog Services and Frontline policing executed a search warrant on a short-term vacation rental in the rural Merville area south of Campbell River. In total, 780 grams of suspected cocaine, 310 grams of suspected fentanyl, and over $13,000 in cash was located and seized.

A 31-year-old male from Burnaby was arrested in Campbell River in connection with the search warrant. The male was later released and has his first court appearance on June 29, 2026.
