Volunteers recently hauled more than 82,000 pounds of trash out of the woods near the motocross track on Highway 28.
The cleanup was organized by the Campbell River Motocross Association and the Four Wheel Drive Association of BC. On March 28-29, 18 volunteers combed through the woods and pulled out a trailer-load of pallets, old wheels, and miscellaneous garbage that had been dumped illegaly on the site.
They were helped by a host of local businesses, who donated their time, equipment, fuel, and food. The local landfill also waived tipping fees to help with the cleanup.
In total, they removed 82,684 pounds of trash from forested Crown lands beside the motocross track.
