After coming in third in the federal NDP leadership race this weekend, Campbell River’s Tanille Johnston says she’s setting her sights on another run for an MP seat.
She told APTN in an interview after the weekend convention that she plans to run again in the next federal election. She didn’t say if she planned to run again for a city council seat in BC’s October municipal elections.
She said her performance in the leadership campaign, which saw her finish third with 7% of the votes, was something to celebrate.
“I think it’s absolutely unreal,” she told APTN. “Like coming out from, you know, a rural community in the middle of nowhere. Almost as far west as you can go from here (Winnipeg) in the centre of the universe. I think we smashed it.”
Johnston ran for the federal NDP in last year’s election in the North Island-Powell River riding, losing to Conservative Aaron Gunn by just under 5,000 votes.
