An injured hiker who took a nasty fall near Port Renfrew was rescued today by a team from 442 Transport and Rescue Squadron.
The hiker had sustained serious injuries while travelling the West Coast Trail, says 19 Wing Public Affairs.
A CH-149 Cormorant helicopter was dispatched from Comox to respond. The rescue was completed with the patient hoisted to the helicopter and delivered to BC Emergency Health Services at Victoria General Hospital.

442 Transport and Rescue Squadron’s Cormorant and Kingfisher aircraft are the Victoria Joint Rescue Coordination Centre’s (JRCC) primary means for aviation and marine SAR responses in the Victoria Search and Rescue Region (SRR). The aircraft and their crews are ready to respond to search and rescue missions on a 24 hour basis.
