The oldest section of Erickson Road in Willow Point will be overhauled this summer, with new underground infrastructure and sidewalks on the way.
Last week council approved an upgrade project for 1.1 kilometres of the road, between Larwood Creek Crossing and Nature Park Drive. The nearly $5.8 million project will cover the replacement of the water main and storm sewer system, remove outdated asbestos pipes, and install new hydrants, valves, services, and manholes. Gaps in the sidewalks along the stretch of road will also be filled in with new pedestrian infrastructure.
“Construction is anticipated to take place from early to mid-May and be completed in late 2026,” says a statement from the city. “This investment addresses long-standing infrastructure challenges and supports reliable water and drainage services.”
Windley Contracting Ltd. won the construction contract and will do the work starting in May, finishing sometime this fall or winter.
The city says additional improvements to the road will be considered after this work is completed. That will include new bike lanes, council heard last week.
