A young skier who trained on Mount Washington is making her Olympic debut this weekend.
Dillan Glennie from the Comox Valley will represent Team Canada in Freestyle Skiing (Halfpipe) in the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics. Glennie, who is a member of the Mount Washington Freestyle Club, has been on the national team since 2020 and this year qualified to represent Canada as part of the Winter Olympics team. She’s ranked in the top ten worldwide in the women’s halfpipe category.
She is one of two Vancouver Island athletes representing Canada when the games begin this weekend. The other is Amelia Wells from Saanich, who is also making her Olympic debut, and will be competing in Cross-Country Skiing.
The games will run from February 6–22. There are 207 athletes on Team Canada this year, with 33 from British Columbia.
